Interviewer:  FineCraft often works from an architect’s drawings. What does it actually mean when you say you “bring the design intent to light”?

FineCraft rep:  A drawing is a promise. Intent is the feeling behind it—the way light should fall across a kitchen island, how a hallway should feel when you turn the corner, or why a window sits three inches off the obvious grid. Our job is to protect that promise through permitting, structure, millwork, and the last coat of paint. We build so the finished house still reads as the architect meant it to.

Interviewer:  So you are not replacing the architect.

FineCraft rep:  Correct. We collaborate. We have in-house designers, and we also work with outside architects. On a historic home, that may mean matching antique trim while quietly updating the layout. On a new addition, it may mean preserving vaulted ceilings and sightlines while solving the mechanicals no one sees. The architect’s idea stays the north star. Craft is how it survives contact with the real house.

Interviewer:  What should a client expect in the first weeks?

FineCraft rep:  Clarity, not chaos. We guide the project from concept through completion—design development, architectural planning, permitting, construction, and the final walkthrough—so the homeowner is not assembling a team of consultants. Bring inspiration, priorities, and a sense of budget. We turn those into plans, 3D views, and material boards so you can see the rooms before anyone opens a wall. After approval and permitting, construction typically starts in one to three weeks, depending on scope and schedule.

Interviewer:  How do you keep the craft aligned with the drawings?

FineCraft rep:  Dedicated people and a fixed process. You have a construction manager and project administrator, plus the same in-house crew and vetted trades day after day. We inspect as we go. Cabinets are often our own FineCraft millwork, finished as carefully inside as out. If a hidden condition makes a detail impossible as drawn, we stop, present options, and get approval before proceeding.

Interviewer:  And when something unexpected appears behind a wall?

FineCraft rep:  We treat it as information, not a surprise invoice. Contingencies live in the schedule. Change orders use plain language: here is the issue, here are the options, and here is the cost—if any—before work continues. Weather and material delays get the same treatment: we reshuffle the sequence and keep you current.

Interviewer:  What does “smooth” feel like for someone living in the house?

FineCraft rep:  Predictable days. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with adjustments when a household needs quieter mornings or nap-time windows. We clean daily, control dust, seal living areas, and protect floors and furniture. A dedicated team, project portal, group chat, and photo updates keep communication and documents in one place—even when you travel.

Interviewer:  Cost is where trust is won or lost. What should readers expect?

FineCraft rep:  A detailed estimate early in design, then typically a fixed-price contract once design is developed. Payments follow milestones tied to real progress. We help prioritize and value-engineer so the budget serves the rooms that matter most. If a selection or structural surprise changes the number, it is documented and approved first. No silent drift.

Interviewer:  After the walkthrough—what remains?

FineCraft rep:  A one-year workmanship warranty, plus manufacturer coverage on products. If a hinge loosens or a faucet needs attention, you call; we come back. Many clients return for a second or third project. That is the real test: the house looks like the design, the experience did not exhaust the owners, and the relationship is still intact.

Interviewer:  If someone is on the fence this fall, what should they know?

FineCraft rep:  Expect a partner who treats the architect’s intent as a responsibility, not a suggestion—and your daily life as part of the job. You should see the same faces on site, understand the money before it is spent, and recognize the finished rooms as the ones you approved on paper.
